Preparing for surgery day
If you are traveling from outside of the Montreal area, planning ahead is paramount for the ease of your procedure. Rest assured that you are in the very capable hands of Dr. Bensimon’s highly trained nurses and staff.
Dr. Bensimon will suggest an appropriate amount of time to take off work, as well as provide you with a list of antibiotic and pain management medication to be purchase prior to surgery. It is highly encouraged to cease smoking at least six months before surgery, as this will decrease complications and speed-up recovery. In some instances, you will be required to purchase surgical, or antiembolic, stockings.
Loose fitting and comfortable clothes are suggested for surgery day. Please leave all jewelry and valuables at home or your place of stay, and all body jewelry must be removed. Nail polish should be completely removed from the fingers and toes. Fasting is required the night before, so please provide ample time to arrive on schedule so there’s no feeling of being rushed or hurried.
Please contact the office staff at 514-288-9988 for more information on hotels that are in close proximity, should it be required. Dr. Bensimon’s staff can also arrange the recovery stay at a convalescent home called L’Asclepiade that is conveniently located next door to The Metropolitain Center of Plastic Surgery. The home provides housing and post-op care exclusively for FFS and GRS patients.
